Features of growing

To obtain a high-quality grape harvest with beautiful, fully matured fruits that have a balanced taste, it is necessary to know some features of the cultivation of the variety.

Here are some of them:

  1. Brush "Strashensky" is very large, flowering along its entire length begins with a delay, respectively, an uneven ovary and fruit ripening occurs.

When the berries are already ripening in the upper part of the cluster, then at the bottom they can still remain in a green state.

This problem can be solved by pinching the grapes on 1/3 of their length during the period of the ovary of the berries. This will allow to form a cluster of smaller volume, but with the fruits of one ripening period.
  2. During the period of mass ripening of berries it is necessary to carry out selective cutting of ripened clusters. This will reduce the load on the bush and give the vines strength to ripen the remaining crop.
  3. Pruning "Strashensky" has some features - it is necessary to leave a sufficient number of stepsons to form a good foliage of the bush (which directly affects the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the crop).
  4. Depending on the breadth of cultivation is determined by the different load of eyes on the bush. In Moldova, the region of creating a variety, a load of 40 to 60 eyes per bush is allowed.
In the Volga region, a good harvest can be obtained only if there are no more than 20 buds on a bush.

Despite all the shortcomings of the variety, "Strasensky" has its fans and occupies decent places in many vineyards. The same winegrowers, who prefer to grow only unpretentious varieties, usually choose Aleshenkin dar, Muscate delight or Giovanni.
