Tomatoes rose sharply in Ukraine and cucumbers fell in price

The market of greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes last week in Ukraine had multidirectional trends, EastFruit experts say.

Very unexpected was the sharp rise in price of large greenhouse tomatoes, which increased in price by 33%. In the last days of the week, imported tomatoes were sold at $ 1.96 / kg retail outlets.

At the same time, market operators characterized the demand for this product as high. As experts previously reported, Ukraine has already opened the season of local greenhouse tomatoes. But while the selection of greenhouses is small, and prices continue to remain at a high level - over $ 2.3 / kg.

At the end of last week, a smooth cucumber in such countries as Russia and Poland became more expensive in retail chains. In Russia, the price increase was 6.28%, while in Poland it was 13.6%. The least expensive cucumbers last week could be bought in Tajikistan and the Russian Federation. The most expensive cucumbers were in Georgia. The most expensive were the tomatoes in the Russian Federation, and the cheapest - in Moldova.
