Petite handsome men with perky temper - chickens of breed Sibright

The Seabright breed chickens are very popular among poultry farmers who have fallen in love with them for their original miniature, low weight, fighting temper and fervent character. They are distinguished by elegance, unpretentiousness and gullibility, they are easy to maintain and easily tamed.

Seabright breed birds are dwarf. They were bred in England in the early 18th century and got their name thanks to the breeder - Sir John Seabright.

Breeding chickens of this breed was popular among the aristocratic class of the British, since Lord Seabright was a man of eminent and noble.

Around 1800, John began to create a new breed of chicken. After a few years, he finally found chickens with signs of dwarfism and the desired properties.

By crossing the rooster Bentamka and the Polish hen with fringed plumage and “adding” to the mixed breed progeny of the blood of Hamburg chickens, also having the fringed plumage, the lord received the desired breed.

In the middle of the 19th century in England, the Seabright breeding breeders club, called Sebrightclub, was established, whose membership consisted of noble people.

The cost of Seabright chickens in the mid-19th century ranged from 15 to 30 pounds per pair. If we take into account the fact that the weekly income of well-to-do citizens did not exceed a few pounds, then you can imagine how high the price of the breed was at that time.

Features

Wings lowered almost to the ground, loosely attached to the body is one of the outer fundamental features of this breed.

Chickens do not require special care, they are easily tamed, therefore they are especially popular with poultry farmers.

When choosing a cage should pay attention to the fact that the birds of this breed fly well.

Robbers Seabright pugnacious, chickens are characterized by low fecundity.

The poultry meat of this breed has excellent taste and looks like partridge meat.

Content and cultivation

Chickens of breed Sibright are rather difficult to grow, because they require very careful care.

To increase the chicks hatching, it is necessary to lay the eggs under the hen during the hottest time of the year. Silver bantamok breeding is much more difficult than gold.

Incubation of eggs can be carried out both naturally and with an incubator. The offspring appears one day earlier than from eggs of larger breeds.

Chickens are fed with mashed egg sifted with mixed feed. Then you can enter into the diet milk millet porridge, chopped worms and greens. At first, the interval between feedings of chickens should be about 2 hours, then food intake should be reduced to about 5 times a day.

Chickens of this breed are unpretentious to feed, so they can be given the same food as the chickens of large breeds. Also in their diet you can include milk, simpletone, cottage cheese, reverse, wheat bran, potatoes, baking yeast, fresh carrots and food waste. Feed adult birds should be 3 times a day.

Birds are thermophilic and can suffer from acclimatization during an abrupt climate change. Therefore, in winter, the enclosure must be warmed, install lighting and ventilation, and for the floor to use deep litter.

Specifications

The weight of the rooster is about 600 g, chicken - 500 g.

Lay-out breeds of Bentemock Seabright begin laying eggs at the age of 7-8 months. For the year they carry 50-100 eggs and more. Eggs are considered more tasty than other breeds and weigh 15-45 g.

Analogs

A similar structure of the body and weight (rooster - 800-900 g, chicken - 500-600 g) has Bentamka Altai. The egg production of chickens of this breed is about 50-70 eggs per year, egg weight is about 35-40 g.

You can also distinguish a kind of Bantamok, as the Japanese (chicken Shabo). They, like Seabright, are miniaturized - their approximate weight is 575-725 g.

The Wyandot dwarf silver breed appeared by crossing the Sibright breed with the Cochinchans.

Their egg production is 120-140 eggs per year, the minimum egg weight is 35 g. With the birds of Sibright they are similar in silver plumage color, strong body structure, but have a higher weight - the rooster weighs 2.5-3.5 kg, chicken - 2 -3 kg

Today, one of the rarest selling chickens is a breed of Moscow white chickens. There are hundreds of them in the whole country.

Recently, Bentams have become fairly widespread due to their cost-effectiveness, since with a rather high egg production rate these birds consume much less feed than chicken of large breeds.

Also the meat of these birds is very popular - very tender and tasty. And the maternal instinct in chickens is simply astounding - the hen tries to start to hatch his eggs as soon as possible.
