Standard planting sorrel

Planting sorrel should be carried out on a well-fertilized area. These can be the beds where beetroot, carrots, white cabbage and cauliflower, celery or radishes previously grew, parsley or potatoes, cucumbers. In such a soil, all organic and mineral elements are contained in sufficient quantities. It is best to use for planting seeds of the second year of storage.

Seed germination is carried out at a temperature of 15 to 23 degrees Celsius. Watering plants is carried out in accordance with weather conditions: forget about watering for a while, if it's hot outside, because at this time the flower stalks will grow.

Within three years after planting the plant does not need to transplant. Transplantation is needed only when the next year will begin to grow smaller and coarse leaves. The reason for the decrease in yield is an increase in the volume of oxalic acid.

When growing sorrel, you should use top dressing in the form of organic elements, mineral substances and fertile substrates. Loamy soil and black soil are best suited.

If you are unable to provide fertile soil, then the use of fertilizers as a top dressing will save the situation. Provide good watering, because with its lack of sufficiently large leaves will form, but too much moisture will contribute to the death and freezing of the root system of sorrel.

It is best to use a solution of bird droppings, mullein, urea with superphosphates, as well as nitrogen and potash fertilizers as a top dressing. In the green almost accumulate nitrates.

Growing sorrel at home

Sorrel can be grown in the garden and even at home on the windowsill. Best of all at home grow: Odessa broadleaf, Altai and Maikop varieties.

A slight shading of the plant is able to transfer without any particular complications, so it is better to choose a north-west or north window for cultivation. The temperature in the room can be from 5 to 20 degrees, under such conditions the growth will be optimal.

It is best to choose sour loams rich in humus. You can also use a slightly acidic soil of a universal type.

The depth of the grooves for planting should be 0.8-1 cm. Between the rows, make a distance of 6-7 cm, fill the grooves with finely sifted humus.

After the descent, thin the plant and leave a distance of 5 cm maximum. Regularly water the house sorrel, make sure that there is always a wet substrate in the box. A couple of times a month make dressing granular or concentrated fertilizer.

Do not forget about the pests - it can be a rhubarb weevil, sawfly or sorrel leaf splinters. Propagate the sorrel with rhizomes or seeds.
